THE NAMESAKE (Narrative Feature)
Synopsis: Based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Jhumpa Lahiri. The Namesake is the story of the Ganguli family whose move from Calcutta to New York evokes a lifelong balancing act to meld to a new world without forgetting the old. The Namesake is directed by Mira Nair and stars Tabu, Irrfan Khan, Kal Penn, Jacinda Barrett, Zuleikha Robinson, Glenne Headley, and Brooke Smith.
PUNCHING AT THE SUN (Narrative Feature)
Synopsis: A crackling, emotionally-charged dream ride through the streets of Elmhurst, Queens. It is a tale of rage and redemption as seen through the fiery eyes of Mameet Nayak: a headstrong Indian teen lost in the shadow of his brother’s death. Punching at the Sun is directed by Tanuj Chopra and stars Misu Khan, Nina Edmonds, Hassan El-Gendi, Ferdusy Dia, Kazi Rahman, Taran Singh, Mohammad Mirza, Rana Quraishi, Farhad Asghar, Raymond Vasquez and Keyonn Sheppard.
MY BOLLYWOOD BRIDE (Narrative Feature)
Synopsis: In this “fish out of water” Bollywood romantic comedy, Sex and the City’s Jason Lewis as Alex finds romance in a totally different city. Alex fell in love with the girl next door. Trouble is, the ‘girl’ is a Bollywood superstar and ‘next door’ is Mumbai, India. My Bollywood Bride is directed by Rajeev Virani and stars Jason Lewis, Kashmira Shah, Gulshan Grover and Sanjay Suri.
BACKWATERS (Narrative Feature)
Synopsis: A paralyzed woman goes missing after she and her husband travel to India for specialized medical attention. Backwaters is directed by Jag Mundhra and stars Tamzin Outhwaite, Jason Flemyng, Gulshan Grover, Nicholas Irons and Sandra Teles
UMRAO JAAN (Narrative Feature)
Synopsis: J.P. Dutta’s adaption of the Urdu novel “Umrao Jan Ada” by Mirza Haadi Ruswa (1905). Umrao Jaan is directed by J.P. Dutta and stars Aishwarya Rai, Shabana Azmi, Sunil Shetty, and Abhishek Bachchan.
